My Friday Five – Favorite Skin Care Products

My Friday Five – Favorite Skin Care Products

It’s hard to believe the time has come, but in less than a week, I’ll be turning the big 4-0. How did that happen!? I can’t lie and say genetics doesn’t play part in your skin type and how you age, and I appreciate that while I may have inherited a pear shaped body, at least I also inherited good skin from my mom’s side of the family. I certainly have issues from time to time (who still gets giant pimples periodically in their late 30’s?). As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized even more the need for good skin care, so I thought I’d share my current favorite skin care products in today’s Friday Five.

1 | Hope in  a Jar – I got turned on to Philosophy skin care products about 10 years ago and this has been my go to moisturizer nearly that whole time. I’ve tried others and always go back. For me it provides the right moisture level without being heavy. It helps keep radiance and glow of young skin. There are several different formulations. In the winter I generally use the original Hope in a Jar and in the summer, I use the Hope in a Jar SPF 25 version.

2 | Philosophy Miracle Worker Eye Cream – I’m professing my love for another Philosophy product. Their Miracle Worker Eye Cream does wonders for my naturally dark under eye circles that I inherited from my dad’s side of the family. I can tell when I get lazy and stop using it, I just look more tired. (Likely I am tired, but I’d prefer not to show it!)

3 | Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Skin Cleansing System – I bit the bullet and purchased the Clarisonic Mia 2 a few months ago and I’m so glad I did. I can be kind of lazy when it comes to washing my face at night, and I’ve always failed at doing multi-step skin care routines because it was just “too much effort”. This takes 1 minute and leaves my skin so clear and clean- and dare I say, younger. I noticed a difference after just the first week. I’ve also been using it on my hands.

4| Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream – speaking of hands, this Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream is my current favorite hand lotion. It goes on smooth and isn’t greasy. I think I’m on a forever quest for the right hand lotion though. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

5 | C Booth 4-in-1 Multi-Action Body Lotion – this is a recent find. I received a coupon to try out a C Booth body care product and I’ve been really happy with this 4-in-1 Body Lotion. Its promise is for long lasting moisture and firmer looking skin. I can say it delivers on both! In Iowa we have pretty dry winters and I can tell this is going to provide all day moisture even in the cold winter months. As for the firming, I’m always skeptical about these claims, but to be honest I feel like my stretch marks (on my hips, from pregnancy) look a lot better than they did before. I’m not saying they’re going to go away, but anything that makes them look better is a winner in my book! Plus, it’s a great value, a giant 32-oz. bottle for only $9.99!

Any must have skin care products you recommend? While I have a few tried and true products, I’m kind of a product junkie and love to try new products too.

  1. Great to hear about your under-eye secret! I am always looking for ways to look less tired and have lighter areas under my eyes! I might have to pick that up! Have a great weekend!

  2. I agree – good hand lotions are hard to find. I usually have a tube or two of the Neutrogena Norwegian formula one. It’s thick, but not greasy. BUT it does take some time to soak in. I do find though that it doesn’t really come off with hand washing. Plus it’s amazing for elbows, knees and lips. It’s my utilitarian go to. I’m going to have to pick up that under eye cream you mentioned. My dark circles are horrible! And I manly just buy eye cream for moisture because I feel like any that claim to help with under eye circles are full of bunk. BUT if you see a difference – I trust that!!!
