Framed Monogram Letter

Here we go again, another monogram DIY project as I work on my monogram gallery for my mantel. The best part about this framed monogram letter project is that it only took 20-30 minutes. You can also check out my recent posts on the Burlap Monogram Letter and Map Covered Letter.

Supplies:

  • Frame – I used an 8″x10″ frame
  • Wooden letter – I used an 8″ letter found at Michaels.
  • Fabric or Scrapbook paper – cut to 8″x10″
  • Spray adhesive or Modge Podge
  • Hot glue gun

Directions:

1) Take the back off of your frame and separate the parts, removing the glass front completely.

2) Adhere your fabric or scrapbook paper to the front of the frame backing or to a cardboard insert cut to 8×10 size. I just glued it to the front facing side of the back of the frame. I used spray adhesive, but you could use Modge Podge or some other craft adhesive as well.

3) Using your hot glue gun, run fairly generous lines of glue on the back of your letter, but not so much it will squish out. Place your letter in the middle of your newly covered frame back. You’ll need to work quickly so your hot glue doesn’t harden before you can place it. Let dry/cool for at least 10 minutes.

4) Put the frame back together minus the glass front. Sit back and admire your work!

I tried out a few different fabric and paper styles before deciding on the clock fabric. Here were my other variations. I didn’t actually glue them down while I was experimenting with other prints, I just laid the paper or fabric and letter on each other to see what each would look like. (sorry for the bad lighting – I was in my basement when I was doing this project).

Here’s the finished frame and a picture of my finished H’s so far for my gallery. I haven’t really placed them where I want them yet. I have a few more purchased H’s as well, but I won’t haul them out until I’m ready to put them all together. I have ideas for at least 2 others to make. I need to get some color into at least one of them, and I just bid on some letterpress H’s on ebay. Wish me luck!
