Happy Friday the 13th! My grandpa was born on Friday, May 13th back in 1910, so I think good thoughts on this superstitious day. I hope all you moms out there had a nice Mother’s Day! How have we already fast forwarded five days since then?
1 | Sunny Skies for Selling – My weekend was filled with the garage sale, not necessarily the most celebratory Mother’s Day, but we couldn’t have asked for better weather. I will admit I was a little sentimental going through Carter’s baby stuff getting ready for the sale, but it does feel good to get a lot of stuff out of our house that was just taking up space. Now that I’ve lived to see the other side, check out my Top 10 Tips from a Garage Sale Newbie.
2 | Soccer Sunday – On Mother’s Day, we spent the morning cleaning up from the sale and then Carter had a soccer game in the afternoon. We were lucky to have my parents join us to cheer him on. It was good to see them, and Carter was so excited to have them come watch.
3 | Sir Jokes a Lot – After soccer we were off to check out some golf clubs for me. I’ve decided to take some lessons this summer and need my own clubs. I’ve played a few times in the last few years but just borrowed clubs from other people. Here’s Carter at Dick’s Sporting Goods posing like the running mannequins. They also have a little track around the shoe department that he always asks us to time him on. Whatever it takes to not hear “I’m booooorrred” over and over is worth it, especially on Mother’s Day!
4 | Back on the Workout Wagon -This week I was able to make it to Kosama more consistently since last week I had to miss a few days due to garage sale prep. I’ve been going for about 4 weeks now. I like the workouts and I’ve definitely noticed increased strength and endurance so far. Now I need work on cleaning up my eating. Ughhhhhh, no fun! That’s definitely the one downfall of working from home – snacks are too readily available.
5 | Homemade Schmomade – I attempted to make some homemade sweet potato fries the other day. My previous attempts have turned out too soggy, this time I had the opposite problem… burnt to a crisp. Really, some things just aren’t worth making from scratch. (I’m winking at you boxed brownies!) If you have tricks on perfect sweet potato fries, send them my way, I’m willing to try one more time.
Today I’m hoping for a GSD (Get Sh!t Done) day. We have “no meeting Friday’s” at work and for the most part people abide by it. I’m hoping to plow through a few projects and some other things on my to do list that have been on there a little too long for my liking.
Todd’s doing an obstacle course race on Saturday, so Carter and I are going to go watch. Then we’re back to soccer on Sunday. A full enough weekend, but not too crazy. We have a few house projects we need to try to tackle before early June, so hopefully we find some motivation. (It’s bad that we’re both procrastinators on these things!)
Whatever your plans are, have a great weekend!

Boxed brownies are SO good! Why make from scratch??? I have yet to really make any potato product that perfect crispy consistency in the oven or stove top. I fail each time… your sweet potato fry saga sounds a lot like my attempts. And a garage sale on Mother’s Day? What a way to spend the day! But it would be oh so satisfying seeing stuff leave the house and all that extra space
