My Friday Five – Unofficial Start to Summer

My Friday Five – Unofficial Start to Summer

Happy Happy Friday! I cannot believe we’re already at the end of May and time for Memorial Day.  School gets out next week and then we’ll have a 2nd grader, is even harder to believe! We’ve got some fun festivities this weekend with a birthday party, graduation party, visit from my mother-in-law, and hopefully a long family bike ride if the weather cooperates. Three day weekend, here we come! Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it treats you well and you take a little time to remember our fine service men and women and the real reasons we have this national holiday to celebrate.

1 | You See Us Rollin’ – We just got the ride behind bike attachment for Carter so he can join us on some longer bike rides this summer. He’s outgrown the Burley bike trailer we had and isn’t comfortable enough on his bike yet for longer rides. Todd and I are doing the Baccoon Ride in June, so I really need to get out on my bike and build up some stamina! Here’s Todd and Carter on their inaugural ride.

2 | Let the Games Begin – Last weekend we enjoyed a day at a local state park with friends, filled with lots of yard games and a picnic. The weather was perfect and we had a great time! It prompted me to create a list of the Best Yard Games, and I can’t wait to add some more to our collection for a fun summer of get togethers.

3 | Easy Redecorating Ideas – I recently did some work with Fathead and I might become addicted to wall decals for easy decorating that you don’t have to commit to forever. I loved how my faux iron headboard turned out, and I’ve decided it’s absolutely the way to go for decorating kids rooms with their ever changing interests! They’re even more well known for sports themed decals, so it might be the perfect idea for Father’s Day if a dad in your life has a man cave or garage he hangs out in.

4 | Made for the (Partial) Shade – This weekend I’m hoping to finally get the pots planted in front of our garage (again, Mother Nature, please cooperate). I recently posted about my shade loving container gardens from last year. I’m still undecided if I’ll use the same mix of plants or try a few new ones.

– I read this blog post yesterday and found it so funny (and true) I had to read it out loud to my husband. Our little daredevil and class clown can drive us crazy sometimes, but he’s also awesome in so many ways! Lately he seems to like to take selfies on my phone which can be funny (and sometimes… um, interesting!).

I’m traveling for work next week and have a few things to finish up work-wise before I leave. I guess that would be the only reason to not curse the rain predicted on and off through the weekend. Well that and the dozen little house projects we have to finish up before we can think of listing our house. More on this soon, but we met with our Realtor today and it was a bit overwhelming. I really dislike the moving process, but we have to bite the bullet sometime!
