Here we are at Friday once again! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. The weather was glorious here, which was much needed after a few weeks of heavy rain and even some flooding here in Des Moines. I had a few days off, and while I wasn’t overly productive, I sure enjoyed a little much needed downtime with the family! Here are some highlights from our 4th.
1 | Patriotic Prints | Carter made a hand print flag at his summer program. I’m a terrible mom and don’t keep a lot of his “artwork” but I think this one will be a framer to use for 4th of July decor.
2 | Reading Binge | I love to read, but I tend to get so engrossed that I can’t put them down. I try to only start new books when I know I’ll have time to get through them in a day or two. I managed to sneak in a pedicure and start reading The Girl On the Train. So good, I finished the whole thing in a day! Any other summer reading recommendations?
3 | Baby, You’re a Firework | I’m not sure why, but on the 4th of July it seems completely appropriate to let your kids play with fire! We went to the West Des Moines parade on July 3rd with some friends and then the kids were so excited to do sparklers together afterward.
4 | USA LOVE | I didn’t make myself a new 4th of July shirt this year like I have the last few years, but I did break out last year’s DIY Vintage USA LOVE shirt.
5 | Let’s Dance | We capped off the weekend by enjoying live music at the Jordan Creek Amphitheater. They have live music on Sunday evenings through the summer. Carter was the first kid out on the dance floor while Tony Bohnenkamp and band played some great covers.
Have a good one!

That hand print art is DEFINITELY a keeper. How adorable! And love that Carter just runs out and hops on the dance floor when he hears good tunes. How funny! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
