I’ve been on a bit of a summer break from blogging, trying to keep up with work commitments while trying to enjoy our time with family and friends this summer. I’ve been doing a few projects here and there, just not writing about them… yet! I’ve got pictures, so I’ll catch up eventually. I took a few days off before the 4th of July, so I’m happy to have a little time for a Friday Five!
1 | DMB LIVE! Todd and I had a little throwback Tuesday when we went to a Dave Matthews Band concert here in Des Moines earlier this week. It’s been about 10 years since we’ve seen them live and they didn’t disappoint. WOW – I forgot how amazing they sound live!
I had a bit of a reality check at the show when I saw the sign indicating what year you have to be born to be of legal drinking age – 1994 – the year I graduated high school. Eek – I don’t worry too much about age, but I didn’t necessarily need the reminder!
2 | FORE – Last weekend, we played in a memorial golf tournament with friends and family to remember a good friend who passed away last year. He would have loved seeing everyone together. I played with my father-in-law and step-mother-in-law on a team. We had such a good time. I hadn’t golfed for a few years, but I had at least a few good shots we used. Mostly I just was a good cart driver though!
3 | Swim Graduate – Carter just finished two weeks of swim lessons. He celebrated with a jump off the diving board and swimming to the side.
4 | Squat it Out – I’m three days in to a 30 day squat challenge (link shows how to do all the moves) from Shape/Fitness magazine. I seem to always be on the start of “getting back into” a fitness routine. I like these challenges because I can always find 5 minutes in a day to do the challenge moves and inevitably a few days a week I’ll do a full cardio or other workout. It’s a nice motivational kick start. It’s never too late to start, so join in now or plan to start next month!
5 | Amped Up S’mores – I ran across these Campfire Cones from Center Cut Cook. Holy smokes (insert courtesy laugh for campfire joke) these look SO good! These are on our list for the 4th of July weekend.
We’re looking forward to a great 4th of July weekend – headed to a parade with friends, watching fireworks, maybe a family hike or going to a baseball game. Enjoy!
