Here we are in October and we’re still wavering between 60 and 80 degree temps here in Iowa. While mother nature is confused, I’m fully ready for fall – layered clothes, boots, crisp mornings, fall baking… I just wish the perfect 65 degree days would last forever and not give way to winter. For now, we’ll enjoy all that fall brings and hope it lasts more than a few weeks! Now on to My Friday Five for the week.
1 | Birthday Boy – Carter turned 7 last week. I can’t believe how fast time flies by! I know someday he won’t want to wear custom birthday shirts, but at least for now he still thinks they’re cool. I’ll post about his Ninja birthday party soon.
2 | Family Fun – we had our families over to celebrate Carter’s birthday last weekend. Carter and his cousins spent most of the afternoon outside playing and swinging on the bag swing.
3 | Still Flourishing – I planted some container gardens in front of our house this spring (a project I have yet to post about) and they must be loving the fall weather too because they look the best they’ve looked all summer.
4 | More Pumpkin Please – To kick off the fall baking season, I made these Chocolate Swirled Pumpkin Bars last weekend. Yum!
5 | Cozy Fashion – I tend to always be cold, so scarves are a necessity for me in the fall and winter. This cozy blanket scarf from the Screaming Owl is going to be a wardrobe staple for me this season. I’m thinking about ordering another one in a different color!
We’re headed to the Hawkeye game tomorrow and then hopefully we’ll have a lazy Sunday. Whatever you’re up to, I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Happy Friday and happy belated birthday to your 7 year old!
Thanks Brenda! He had a good birthday, although I think he thinks the celebration is supposed to last all month. Enjoy your weekend!
