My adventures in blogging have been sidelined a little bit this summer by my adventures in life. Aside from work being a bit crazy, the last few weeks have been filled with some events we’ve been looking forward to and preparing for all summer.
1 | My Ironman – Todd started training in late winter to do a half Ironman. (For those of you not familiar, that’s a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run – yes, he’s crazy!). We traveled to Racine, WI a couple weeks ago for the big race. I’m so proud of this guy, he worked hard to achieve his goal. I know he’s glad to be done hard core training for a while.
2 | More Cowbell – I couldn’t resist cheering Todd on with a little cowbell and my “support crew” shirt, although I slightly regret bringing the cowbell home for Carter. One can only take so much cowbell.
3 | 12 oz Curl – We made an overnight stop on the way home from Racine, WI (a 6+ hour drive) in New Glarus, WI, home of New Glarus Brewery. They’re best known for their Spotted Cow beer, but we had the pleasure of sampling some of their others as well.
4 | Have a Heart – I was part of helping to organize the 3rd annual Have a Heart 5k, which raises money for local pediatric oncology support organizations. It’s a great family event, and Carter got first place in his age group for the kids fun run. That kid loves to run! (and yes, that’s a dragon mask painted on his face).
5 | Croquet Anyone? A few weeks ago, we played in our friends’ annual croquet tournament. They have a new theme every year and this year was Luck ‘O the Irish. Todd and I take themes very seriously! As always, we had a great time!
The next few weeks are full of travel both for work and vacation. We’re going to Disney World for vacation, and I feel incredibly unprepared. I’m happy to take advice from any Disney experts out there!

You’ve been so busy! You all seem very active. What age did you stat Carter on running?I’m not sure when to begin my boys with it.I mean, they run and play like all boys do but my 4 year old asks to run with me and I’m not sure what’s too much for his age so any input on other kids’ experience would be great.
I wish I was more consistently active, I definitely go in spurts! We don’t do much formal running with Carter, mostly it’s just through play, but he’s always wanting us to time his sprints. If one of us is going out on a run, we’ll usually have him just go around the block with us. He has a tendency to want to always sprint , so going around the block is at least long enough for him to learn he has to pace himself. The fun run was just a half mile run. Long enough, but not terribly far for a 6 year old.
Let the blog take a backseat! You’re having so many fun summer adventures!! Congrats to your husband and the Ironman. It’s just such an intense race, but so exciting that he finished!! There are just so many fun activities you all have been up to. You and your husband were just adorable in your Irish gear
