I hope all you moms out there had a great Mother’s Day! Our weekend was pretty laid back, but very nice.

1 | Proud Moments – Carter’s class hosted a Mother’s Day Reader’s Theater to show off their reading skills. Carter was part of a group that read The Gingerbread Man. He was the Gingerbread Man and he read his part with such personality. I would expect nothing else from this kid of ours! The kids were all so proud.

Outside the classroom they had hearts that the kids had designed to say why they love their moms. So sweet! Carter’s reading skills are much more advanced than his drawing skills. 🙂

2 | Treasure Hunt – On Saturday, Todd was doing a day-long relay race. The weather was gorgeous, so Carter and I decided to try geocaching for the first time. We went to a nearby state park, went on a hike on their trail and then found two geocaches.

3 | Mom’s Garden – Later in the day we spent a few hours with my mom. She was out working in her garden, and I was amazed at how big and bold her poppies were. I love that she has so many things in her yard from my grandma’s garden. I just realized I don’t have a good recent picture of my mom and I, so I need to make a point to take one soon!

Sunday we went to Carter’s baseball game and then Todd and Carter let me have a few hours to myself to go see Insurgent, the second movie in the Divergent series. Sometimes you just need a few hours to yourself! Todd had originally made brunch reservations at a restaurant we’ve been wanting to try out, but we forgot Carter had baseball pictures, so we had to move our brunch date to a different day.

4 | Charmed – We all know I love bracelets. Contrary to what some might believe, I actually don’t make all of the ones I wear. I like a good mix. A few years ago I got some Alex and Ani bracelets as a gift for being a conference speaker. I LOVE them and have added a few more to my collection since then. They have all sorts of charms and symbols. If you’re ever looking for a meaningful gift for someone or something to put on your wish list. I highly recommend these. You’ll be addicted!

5 | New Obsession – Speaking of gifts, I know what I’ll have on my wish list for my birthday and Christmas this year. If you follow me regularly, you know I use my Silhouette Cameo for a lot of craft projects. They have a new machine coming out, the Silhouette Curio which ups the crafting ante with the ability to cut, emboss, sketch, etch, and stipple. I didn’t even know I needed to stipple, but now that it’s possible I know I’ll find a use for it!

This weekend is our last “free” weekend for a while. Carter has baseball on Sunday but otherwise we’re fairly open. We need to take care of some basic things around the house like cleaning, yard work, etc. What I really need to do is go through some closets, but I just can’t get excited about that, so we’ll see.

Have a good one!
