Not gonna lie, I’m pretty happy to see this week come to a close. I have a high threshold before meeting my “max limit” and this week I was there by Wednesday. I feel like I need some yoga in my life, but it stresses me out trying to figure out how to fit it in. If anyone has figured out some ways to find balance, I’m open to some tips!
Here are the mostly bright spots of the week …
1 | Girls Just Wanna Have Fun… they just wanna! Last Saturday night I met these lovely ladies out for dinner and drinks. These are some lifelong friends of mine. One I’ve known since preschool and the others have been in my life from either 2nd or 6th grade. We don’t get together as often as we’d like, but time with lifelong friends is just good for the soul. Our night ranged from some serious talks to some serious laughs! We went to Eatery A for dinner and then on to Star Bar afterward to listen to a band.
2 | Timeless Fun – we had some rain this week and cooler weather some other days, but Carter is always game to get outside. Todd’s mom got him some giant sidewalk chalks for Easter that he wanted to break in. Some things never get old – bubbles, sidewalk chalk, squirt guns, water balloons, running through the sprinkler – just good simple fun.
3 | Home Mecca – a new home decor store opened last week in Des Moines – at home. I am excited to check it out. Considering we got a Home Goods last year, it’s probably a good idea we don’t have much more room in our house! If you told me an IKEA was opening, we’d probably have to move up our house hunting time line! Have you ever been to an at home store? I haven’t yet, but the pictures I’ve seen make me think I could spend a few hours there!
4 | Garden Gifts – Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I saw a spike in traffic this week for my Stenciled Garden Rocks, which I happened to make for my mom for Mother’s Day a few years ago. This is a super simple project you can personalize for almost anyone. I’m no gardener, but I made some for our front entry too. Check out my other favorite Handmade Mother’s Day Gifts
5 | Comic Relief – this post from Fancy hit me at the right time this week! I rarely talk about work here, but I’ll say we had some changes at my company this week and some of those changes include expanding my role. There are good points to that, but my working mom status hit me like a ton of bricks. Knowing something will need to give for a while, likely it’s going to be my creative projects and blogging. I hope you’ll stick it out with me.
Not sure what’s on tap for our weekend. We were supposed to be doing a camping/hiking day with some family friends, but the weather is not cooperating with our plans. We are sure to enjoy a relatively free weekend though as baseball starts next weekend and it feels like our busy summer schedule is coming at us fast.

How wonderful that you have lifelong friends!! Glad you enjoyed a fun night out with the girls last weekend!
LOVE that the sidewalk chalk is making an appearance. It’s finally warm enough here too, and we have been having so much fun drawing on our sidewalks.
Thanks Brenda! I’m blessed beyond words with good friendships. Have a great weekend!
We have an At Home store here. And I LOVE it! Ours is the size of a Costco or Home Depot. I personally like Home Goods a little more, because they have a fun dish selection, but I recently got some fun end table/night stands for our guest room at At Home. Plus they have a great selection of pillows, floral things, lamps and pictures! You’ll love it.

It’s funny, I just went today and I described it to my husband as Costco for home decor! I agree with your comparison to Home Goods. I am often looking for table ware or kitchen items. I did find at home’s seasonal/outdoor selection to be pretty substantial as well as a huge assortment of rugs!
