Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe January has already come and gone. Work has been steady, and I’m getting into a groove with my new job. We’re definitely back into our routines after the holidays and already looking forward already to Spring. It’s that time again for a peek into the highlights of our week here…
1| Snow Days – This week we had a blizzard predicted on Tues. with up to 12 inches of snow. Some parts of the state got it, but we ended up with about 5 inches here in West Des Moines. In a rare move, schools cancelled early in preparation. Kids all over the state rejoiced, including mine! In the end, the schools here could have been in session, but Carter sure did enjoy turning his sled into a snowboard in our front yard with our neighbor boys!
2| Daily Variety – Now that I’m working from home, I realized how much I was sitting during the day. I had been eyeing the Varidesk, which is a adjustable desk allowing easy adjustment between sitting and standing during the day. I got it set up last weekend and it made a world of difference this week.
3| Stylin’ Steps – I’ve been a Fitbit user since 2011. I have always preferred the clip variety like the Fitbit One so I didn’t always have to wear it visibly. I love wearing bracelets and accessories and didn’t feel that most bracelet trackers went well with my arm party. I was almost giddy this week when I saw that Fitbit was releasing a new bracelet style tracker, the Fitbit Alta, with fashion bands you can swap out. The bands are a bit pricey, but this will be on my wish list! Valentines Day (or Mother’s Day)… hint hint!
4| Monkey Off My Back – This week I hit the one month mark of being Diet Pepsi (and all soda) free! After pretty much a 2 decade addiction, I’m happy to be headache and migraine free for the firsts time in a while! I had a hard time kicking it since I don’t drink coffee and still need a little caffeine once in a while. I switched to green tea and a lot more water and made it through without any withdrawal headaches. I did not attempt “dry January” at the same time. There’s only so much change a girl can handle!
5| Fountain of Youth? I love when free beauty goodies show up in my mailbox, especially with the promise of making me look younger! I’ve been using the Loreal Revitalift products from the latest VoxBox for about 2 weeks now. I’m really liking the under eye serum and the night cream. I’ll let you know in a few weeks if I see any visible difference.
I think there’s some Valentine’s baking in my future this weekend, maybe some heart shaped macarons or something red velvet (or both).
I am tempted to try a Fit Bit! Will check it out!
