Before you throw out that sweater you no longer wear or no longer fits, consider upcycling it into these holiday crafts including a sweater pillow, Christmas tree or wine bottle holder. These make great decor for your home or handmade gifts.
Before I donate clothes anymore, I always take a second look at my items to determine if they’re something I could use to make into something else. I had enough sweater material from this sweater (which had a hole in one of the sleeves) to make three different holiday crafts. Click on the images or the links to go to the step-by-step instructions for each.
Upcycled Sweater Pillow – I love how this pillow turned out. The sweater pattern gives it good texture and a few buttons add a cute detail.
Sweater Tree – I originally saw one of these at Target, and as the good little crafter I am, immediately thought “I can make that!”.
Sweater Wine Bottle Holder – I found this idea in a catalog. It’s a perfect hostess gift for the holidays or works well to dress up your own holiday table.
Here are some other ideas I have on my list to craft out of old sweaters:
- Sweater Mittens
- Sweater Vases
- Sweater Wrapped Wreath
- Pet Bed
- Sweater Tote Bag
- Sweater Wrapped Frame
- 5 Minute Cowl Scarf
- Cup Cozy
- Sweater Stocking
- Sweater Wrapped Ornaments
Happy crafting!
